Aperitivo Lavazza Moments at Royal Ascot Racecourse 2019

By fashitect In Lifestyle, United Kingdom

It was such a pleasure to be invited by Lavazza to my first ever Royal Ascot on Friday 21st June 2019. Celebrating the start of an iconic British summer event, where the sun was shining, the electrifying atmosphere and gatherings of people around the country united to experience Royal Ascot. Simply the best way to start the morning, relaxed with a cup of Lavazza espresso to be prepared for an exciting schedule ahead. We started the day at the Cedar Tree Cafe in the Queen Anne Enclosure, the ideal summer garden set up with umbrellas, freshly cut lawns and the smell of premium Italian Coffee. Everyone enjoys a different expression of coffee, whether it’s latte, americano, flat white , cappuccino, but at the heart of each of these coffees lies a true Italian espresso. Lavazza offers more than just espresso, adapting to everyone’s unique taste.

You can simply put a twist on tradition, just like in styling with fashion and adapting the gentleman dress code mode to suit your own taste. Some people preferred Coffee shaken and not stirred, but luckily enough Lavazza offer’s both options. From Coffee to Coffeetails (cocktails) such as the espresso martini. The coffee experience offered by Lavazza is not only the Italian version of local coffees, but the celebration of all coffee preparations and consumptions, created and interpreted by the leader of Italian espresso. It is an infinite history of quality, taste and innovation, starting in Turin and reaching the rest of the world. Whilst I was at Royal Ascot, I also got to experience the Italian tradition of Aperitivo, a ritual of taking time to forget about day-to-day stress and indulging a moment of spontaneity. The day was filled with excitement, from arriving at the grand racecourse stadium to people watching and of course the horse racing adrenaline.

Royal Ascot is known as the British home to the fashion week of Horse racing, outfit dressing and beverage queuing. From the dapper gents to the dashing ladies with oversized hats. It’s simply go large or go home, with all the fun celebrations in mind, people watching is definitely part of the whole experience. I’d always recommend researching the dress code online, as every year it may change. For example, in the Queen Anne Enclosure, Gentlemen must have a matching suit and trousers, tie and collar shirt, and even socks are also a compulsory accessory. Of course stating the obvious, no tracksuits, sneakers are allowed. If you are headed to the Royal Enclosure, a morning suit, waistcoat and top hat is needed.

As for individual style, this goes for your personal preference. I couldn’t simply arrive in a business suit, more of a summer blue double-breasted kind of attire.
I know how Italian’s love to go bit more flamboyant with their styles, and they’re more confident with colours, patterns and textures. The men in Milan, ooze with confidence, and frankly so did a lot of the British men at Ascot. From checks, to stripes, wools and tweeds, who is to say that all men should all dress the same. For me personally, I couldn’t simply blend in, as for those that know me, my collection of suits reflects my personality and mood with every spectrum of the gentleman’s wardrobe. It’s ok to be different, to stand out of the crowd and to share your unique perspective on fashion.

Ascot Racecourse is located in Ascot, Berkshire, England, which is used for thoroughbred horse racing. It is one of the leading racecourses in the United Kingdom, hosting 13 of Britain’s 36 annual Group 1 horse races. The Royal Meeting is the perfect occasion for socialising, hosting a choice of four separate enclosures with plenty to offer in terms of dining. Royal Ascot is equally synonymous with sartorial elegance and is awash with colourful fashions as well as the most magnificent millinery creations. Spectacular heritage, unparalleled racing, high fashion, Fine Dining and pageantry come together to create an unforgettable experience in a unique setting. As Britain’s most valuable race meeting, attracting many of the world’s finest racehorses to compete for millions of pounds in prize money, Royal Ascot is anticipated and revered the world over. Whether it’s the arrival of the Royal Procession at 2pm sharp, six world-class races throughout the afternoon or the communal singing around Ascot’s Bandstand early evening, each of the five days in June is a whirlwind of excitement and colour.
