High street and designer collaborations: H&M & Ximon Lee Design Awards 2015

THE SUCCESS OF HIGH STREET AND DESIGNER COLLABORATIONS

Over the years, joining fashion forces seems to be the only way forward. The power of two brands on a platform that completes you’re Salt(-ed) to your caramel. What a bazaar combination that seems to work, just like high street and designer launches. It’s the eventful sensation that meets the middle, the accessibilities of commericial manufacturing, with the designer label and creativity. The premium price point, worldwide reach and the less intimidating factor of luxury high end digits has us excited before the official launch dates. It’s what everyone has been talking for the previous months, or the day the images ”accidentally leaked” on you’re hashtag instagram feeds. Ximon Lee is a prime example, the first menswear designer to have won this H&M Design Award 2015. His collection sold out immediately online (launched yesterday 22/10/15) , as his unique brand identity and signature twists sells itself. For a young 24 year old graduate from Parsons in New York, to have already landed this success, you’ll be sure to be hearing this name regularly in the years to come. As for me, a virgin for shopping has finally become a breaking addiction, once all that everyone is speaking about is the next collaboration (Balmain 05/11/15). You’re in this community of a fashion capital, whether you signed up or not, there is bound to be a subsciption notification by your fellow fashionistas. The structural elements and sculptural exhibit of the oversized Denim Jacket is a piece of Art. Architecture and design has always been my perspective in style, but it’s the fashion that can be the pleasing appearance that meets the eye.
