ARE YOU READY FOR FASHION WEEK?
In preparation for the marathon of mayhem, the clothes clutter and peacocking paparazzi’s, it happen’s to be that time of year again. The calm stress before the storm, the build up and catching up, socialising and watching the designers collection through the video mode on your phones. Snapping endlessly, running from one show to another, or even one country to another. That’s if your the editor of your magazine, an international blogger, stylist, buyer. New York, London, Milan & Paris is on you’re calendar month four times a year. That’s a whole load of brownie points to your miles. Its a time to create content, meet and greet international people and enjoy the moment whilst it lasts, until you’re in the same cycle again a few months later.
1. A NEW SEASON, A NEW LOOK
A trip to the Styling Salon, Grooming Barbers, Nail Salon & Makeup Appointments is a priority for your appearance. It will only make you feel better, feel glamourous and fishing for compliments is the tip of the iceberg. We all do it, for the extra effort and likes on social media, treat yourself this season with a new make over than a make under. For myself included, I like a fresh shaved haircut every four days but it doesn’t look like I’ll change my statement hairstyle anytime soon…
2. ORGANISE YOUR WARDROBE
This is the part that’s most important. I have nothing to wear! Making sure you have daily outfits planned or even several outfits planned for a day’s worth of changing in the car is the stressful side some of us go through. They’ll be that showroom meeting in the morning to wear for the designers show in the evening, to the outfit to be photographed for your social media and the party outfit for the after party. I’d advice taking a few weeks in advance to get your marathon of dressing to be sorted, but then again you’ll be inspired by others and change your mind the next morning. That’s you’re excuse for being fashionable late.
3. BRUNCH DATES & MEETINGS
We may look skinny, but we all need to eat. For myself personally, there’s no reason to starve as we all need that instagrammable picture in-between shows. Catch up with international influencers over breakfast at the Wolseley or book a table at the Sky Gardens with an amazing view of London’s skyline. Of course, if you’re reading this internationally, experience the city from the culture to the food and travel the lengths of iconic monuments to create your memories. Work doesn’t stop there, especially when you have work meetings and projects in-between, then you’ll need that energy for the evening cocktail parties!

4. THE UBER LIFE
Darling, just put it on the card. That’s until you check the credit at the end of fashion month. It’s much cheaper than your black cab, more efficient, safe and handy especially when there’s no coins and papers involved. For those who are first signing up use the promotion code @UBERFASHITECT & get £10 off. The best part is the service is international, and super handy to enter your destinations via your phone. Save the 5 inch heels for the parties and take cover from the terrible weather. Split your fares between your friends, it’s as simple as the click of a button.
5. STREET STYLE, SHOWS & SHOWROOMS
In the fashion industry, the designers showcase their next season collections to the buyers and fashion creatives. The insight to the Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter seasons have become more accessible than ever with the power of technology and social media. From live streaming, to applications like Snapchat, Periscope & Instagram, international readers can now get access instantly. What would a show be without, the fashionistas attending. Where would street style photographers be without the people who make an effort. The commercial reality of what’s on the people and not what’s forced on editorial covers, it’s all about showcasing talented designers right? The most asked question is: Where do you get the tickets? Public relations send them by invitation with equal requests to attend. It helps to network.
